Undercovers: A who’s who of Canadian talent
March 25 show at The Westdale will raise money for the Unison Fund to aid musicians.
Fans of the pioneering MuchMusic VJ Erica Ehm will have a chance to hear some fascinating stories about her incredible career since leaving the iconic music channel, while seeing some fantastic music performances, too.
Ehm hosts the upcoming Undercovers show on March 25 at The Westdale. The show is a special event with a lineup of phenomenal talent; the list reads like a who’s who of Canadian legends including Tomi Swick, Kim Stockwood, Tara Slone, Suzie MacNeil, and many more. The Bill Bell Trio will anchor the night, joined by the rotating lineup of guest artists for unique, one-off performances.
According to promotions for this one-night event, it is inspired by The Last Waltz — an intimate, collaborative evening where great musicians come together to perform inspired cover songs in a beautifully curated setting.

Lorraine Segato of the JUNO award-winning Parachute Club will grace the stage with a special performance. Segato grew up on the Hamilton Mountain and has fond memories of Westdale’s movie theatre, which reopened in 2019 after an extensive renovation. Additionally, two sports celebrities will be in attendance – their identities are being kept under wraps as part of the many surprises of the night.
Joydrop frontwoman Tara Slone will be performing as part of the stellar lineup. Slone, a JUNO-nominated singer with an amazing career in broadcasting and acting, was a finalist on the hit TV show Rockstar: INXS.
“I’m doing this show because the Unison Fund is a critical resource for musicians. As someone who has battled anxiety, I know that I’ve only been able to work through my issues with a lot of support. We all deserve this opportunity,” she said.
“I always try to use my voice to make a difference. It’s a privilege to be able to do that through song.”
The Unison Fund exists to help members of the music community with emergency financial assistance and wellness support when life takes an unexpected turn.
The event is organized by Peter John Van Dyk, long involved with the Burlington Sound of Music Festival.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about the people who keep music alive in our communities. In many ways, musicians are like frontline workers for our culture. They show up, lift people’s spirits, bring us together, and help us through some of the hardest moments in life. Yet most musicians don’t have access to the kinds of health plans, benefits, or support systems that many other workers rely on.”
Van Dyk created this event specifically to raise money for the Unison Fund. “My friend Bill Bell has been open about his struggles and the help he received from the Unison Fund during a very difficult time. That support made a real difference when he needed it most,” he said.
“Bill’s story is a reminder of just how important that safety net can be. That’s why we’re raising funds to support the Unison Fund, so that musicians and music industry workers have somewhere to turn when they need help.”
He emphasizes that the event has acquired sponsors as well as ticket sales so that the musicians participating are not expected to donate their time.
