New teppanyaki restaurant in east Hamilton brings full interactive dining experience.
Hibachi, a feast for the senses, has opened to fanfare (or more specifically, drumming, saxophonists, Nintendo tunes played by a live band, and Mayor Andrea Horwath cutting a giant steak with a samurai sword) during its grand opening this week in Hamilton on Queenston Road.
The elegant and colourful space first begins with a feast for the eyes. The ceiling is patterned with colourful flowers and pink cherry blossom trees surround the space. Flaming hot griddles surround the room.

Chef Kee Zheng and his family are at the helm of this experiential restaurant where visitors take part in the art of teppanyaki dining. If you aren’t familiar with teppanyaki style, it is truly something special to experience and take part in. Patrons are seated around hot griddles, and the talented chefs cook up all sorts of dishes in front of your eyes while doing tricks such as flipping bowls of rice, creating flaming onion towers on the grill, and tossing food straight into customers' mouths. Not only is it a fun experience, it is a delicious one!
Dishes on the teppanyaki menu include meat items such: AAA filet mignon, double lobster tails, salmon, chicken and more. But they also offer vegetarian options, and Halal options are also available. All of Hibachi’s teppanyaki sets come with miso soup, green salad, grilled veggies, rice, and sauces. You will not leave hungry!
In addition to a full teppanyaki menu, Hibachi also offers starters like avocado salad, gyoza, Bangin’ Shrimp and karaage chops. Fresh sushi rolls and sashimi are on the menu, too, for those looking for something a little bit different.
The Hamilton location joins seven others in the GTA, including one on Appleby Line in Burlington.
Whether you are looking to celebrate a special occasion, impress a date on a night out, or just try something new – Hibachi is a welcome addition to the Hamilton food scene.
